Made with grapes from the Glenhope Vineyard at the northern tip of the Macedon Ranges, where 30-year-old vines grow deep in decomposed granite soils farmed by James & Marlin Gevergizian and Scott Harrington. De-stemmed into open vats, fermented with indigenous yeast, and matured for 16 months in French oak (15% new). A medium-bodied Shiraz with bright red fruits, spice and soft tannins.

This feels out of the box for Macedon. Good at that. It’s all woodsy spice and game meat with dark cherry, brambly herbal elements, undergrowth and truffle going on. In all that, a freshness and cut though the beefiness of the wine and lather of savouriness does feel somewhat forward.
